Business and Real Estate Lawsuits

Construction Lawsuits

Thorpe and Thorpe attorneys have successfully guided Southern California business clients and their insurers through the intricacies of complex business litigation. Our trial counsel have a broad range of experience in state and federal courts and in alternative dispute resolution forums.

The Thorpe and Thorpe trial attorneys include veterans of complex anti-trust, fraud, securities and business tort trials, and former prosecuting attorneys.

The team has a depth of experience in construction disputes, contract interpretation, environmental issues, insurance coverage and claims against officers and directors.

Commercial leasing disputes and sophisticated real estate transactions have been an important part of the firm's litigation work. So too have been the disputes arising from corporate acquisitions and shareholder disagreements. In both of those areas, the litigators draw on the experience of the firm's real estate and corporate transactional lawyers.

We have won multi-million dollar real estate joint venture cases, successfully defended business clients against fraud, defective merchandise, product liability, wrongful termination, and indemnity claims and defended directors against negligent mismanagement claims.

Most importantly we follow a “systems” not “forms” approach to litigation. We use systems to improve efficiency and reduce lawyer hours. Our approach, however, is not formalistic. Each case follows a strategic plan for winning rather than a canned blitzkrieg approach.

We developed this approach because of our firm's history of dealing with clients for whom both winning and money are important. We believe it translates into a cost-effective legal defense system. While winning is always the client's ultimate goal, costs have always been a significant factor. We do not adhere to the philosophy that litigation requires an unlimited budget. We plan our tactics to win cases for our clients in the most cost-effective manner possible and review alternative strategies and their respective costs with the client.
